May 4, 2026
The Manske Musculoskeletal Imaging Lab (https://www.manskelab.ca/) is accepting applications for new MSc and PhD students to work on a research project recently funded by the Arthritis Society investigating the interaction between bone and joint biomechanics in radiographic and symptomatic thumb base osteoarthritis. This project will include testing and validation of contact stress models, as well as analysis of dynamic (4D) CT, bone microarchitecture and shape data. We’re collaborating with faculty in image science, biomechanics and orthopaedic surgery. Work will be conducted in the Centre for Mobility and Joint Health (https://mccaig.ucalgary.ca/research/mojo) housed in the McCaig Institute for Bone and Joint Health. Graduate students will enroll in the Biomedical Engineering Graduate program (https://schulich.ucalgary.ca/biomedical/programs/graduate).
If you’re interested, please send a letter of intent via email including unofficial transcript and CV to Dr. Sarah Manske (smanske@ucalgary.ca).
