His work has been published in a variety of high-impact journals, including work in the area of vitamin D, fracture prediction, post-traumatic osteoarthritis, establishing normative bone health databases, and investigations on the effects of spaceflight on bone. He has published over 240 peer-reviewed documents and has over 12,000 citations. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (2018) and holds the Bob and Nola Rintoul Chair in Bone and Joint Research. His research program is supported by CIHR, NSERC, the Canadian Space Agency, NIH and industry. In 2012 he led the establishment of the Centre for Mobility and Joint Health (CFI Innovation Fund) that provides a multi-modal imaging support for many clinical research studies focused on bone and joint health. He has an active training environment of 15 lab members including graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, undergraduate students, a senior research scientist and three staff. In 2023 he was awarded the Killam Graduate Supervision and Mentorship Award.
