CANTRAIN, an OsNET partner, is looking to recruit patient partner mentors. Please see below for more information.

CANTRAIN is recruiting patient and community partner mentors with experience in patient-researcher partnership, clinical trials, and research collaboration to work with an academic mentor in mentoring research students and fellows through our 2025–2026 Studentships and Fellowships Awards Mentoring Program.
We are specifically looking for individuals who:
· Identify as patient and community partners, including those with lived health conditions or as caregivers, family, or friends—as defined by CIHR and adopted by CANTRAIN
· Are eager to explore and expand their leadership in patient engagement and health research
· Show interest in patient-centered research and taking on leadership roles in clinical trials
· Bring experience collaborating with patient organizations, community groups, research teams, or healthcare systems
· Are committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical research
· Are ready to begin or continue their journey into patient and community partner mentorship
If you know anyone who is interested in becoming a CANTRAIN patient and community partner mentor, please direct them to Srijain Shrestha at srijain.shrestha@wecantrain.ca. Once connected, Srijain will schedule a conversation to provide more information.
Once patient mentors are part of our program, they will be asked to meet with mentees at least once every two months (for up to 60 minutes), with flexibility to connect more often if mutually agreed. Mentors will receive a standard honorarium of $40 per hour for time spent meeting with the student or preparing for the meeting, in accordance with CIHR guidelines.
CANTRAIN’s Mentorship program is a unique opportunity to guide and inspire the next generation of clinical researchers, highlight patient and community priorities in research, and strengthen a more inclusive research culture. Meet CANTRAIN’s current Patient and Community Partner Mentors [MENTORS DIRECTORY – Cantrain], and help spread the word about this mentorship opportunity with patient partners across your organization.
